Description

Experiment purpose:

1. To understand and capable of utilizing programmable logic controller to perform control system.
2. To understand the working principle of Traffic Light Control system.

Experiments Observations:

On the first sequence, car from East and West way can cross the junction. At the same time, pedestrians at North and South allow to cross the road. After 8 seconds, pedestrians need to stop crossing the road. East and West way turn to Yellow Light. After 3 seconds, East and West way turn to Red Light but car from East way can turn to South way and car from West way can turn to North way. After another 5 seconds, they need to stop turning.

After 2 seconds, second sequence will be start. At first, car from North and South way can cross the junction. At the same time, East and West pedestrians can cross the road. After 8 seconds, pedestrians need to stop crossing. Immediately, North and South way turn to Yellow Light. After 3 seconds, they need to stop but car from North way can turn to West way and car from South way can turn to East way. After 5 seconds, they need to stop turning.

If S2 switch is turn ON, the sequences will repeat it again to continue allow and disallow car and pedestrians crossing the junction and road. If S2 is turn OFF, the process will end with all Red Light turn ON.

If S3 is turn ON, pedestrian’s sequences will be OFF. Which mean only the car crossing sequences can be observe.
